INSEAD Scholarships are the most sought-after source of financial assistance. They are limited in number and there is significant competition for each award. These scholarships are granted under various criteria and essentially there are two basic categories of scholarships:

Need-based: demonstrate financial need
Non-need based: based on either merit, nationality, gender, professional background, leadership abilities, field of previous studies etc.

The Yale World Fellows Program seeks applications from mid-career emerging leaders who have distinguished themselves within their own professions, regions, countries, or at an international level. Candidates for the Fellowship must demonstrate themselves to be driving forces for action or effective catalysts of change. The Cogut Center for the Humanities, the Center for Environmental Studies, and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seek an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Postdoctoral fellow who studies ethical issues  concerning the environment, especially those dealing with environmental justice, climate justice, environmental health, and both individual and community right-to-know about environmental risks and hazards.

The University of Texas at Austin pleased to announce a new pre-doctoral fellowship at the LBJ School of Public Affairs.  The Climate Change and African Political Stability (CCAPS) program will offer up to three pre-doctoral fellowships for the 2011-2012 academic year.

University of Rhode Island (URI) offers merit scholarships to international freshman applicants.  All students who apply by February 1st will be considered.  While most of their applicants submit SATs to be considered for scholarships, they will consider students who apply without them.  Students must submit a TOEFL for scholarship consideration if English is not their native language.

The grant is usually awarded for a maximum of 2 years for a Master's degree programme, and a maximum of 4 years for a PhD. For PhD, part of the research should be conducted in the home country and part in Groningen .
The grant covers the tuition fees plus the costs of international travel, subsistence, books, and health insurance. It covers expenses incurred in travelling to and from the Netherlands for PhD candidates for a maximum of 4 times.

The Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship is supported by the Archie Fund of the SPE Foundation. Each year the SPE Foundation, working through the SPE Section Scholarship Support Program, as well as working with individual candidates, awards the Archie Scholarship to the most outstanding student preparing to attend university for the first time. The curriculum must lead to an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering.

TWAS offers fellowships to young scientists in developing countries to enable them to spend between three and twelve months at a research institution in a developing country other than their own. The purpose of these fellowships is to enhance the research capacity of promising scientists, especially those at the beginning of their research career, helping them to foster linkages for further collaboration.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and TWAS offer up to fifteen fellowships per year to visiting scholars from developing countries (other than China) who wish to pursue advanced research in natural sciences.

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Eurasia and Central Asia (Global UGRAD), a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, provides opportunities for undergraduate students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan for one year of full-time, non-degree study in the United States. First-year students will attend two-year community colleges and live in campus housing (dormitories) or with American host families. All other students will attend four-year universities and colleges and will live in campus housing (dormitories).
