A PhD position is available in the Polymer Physics Group of Prof. Dr. H. C. Öttinger, Department of Materials, ETH Zürich, Switzerland. PhD Position - Multiscale Modeling in Polymer Physics The modeling of polymers is particularly challenging due to the multitude of length and time scales that come into play.  In order to get a profound understanding of the dynamic behavior of such materials, multiscale modeling approaches are essential. This implies specifically the integration of
  • coarse graining,
  • thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and
  • computer simulations
into a powerful ensemble to tackle the problem. The PhD position offered here is concerned with the multiscale modeling of the mechanical behavior of semi-crystalline polymers under strong deformation
